St. Thomas More Latchkey Program 

The St. Thomas More Latchkey program is for students in Pre-K through 8th grade. The program runs Monday through Friday on days when St. Thomas More School is in session. There will be NO Latchkey on the days that St. Thomas More is not in session, including holiday breaks, snow days, and staff in-service days.

Morning Program 

Time: 6:30-7:30 AM (after 7:30 AM they need to be dropped off at the Gym) 

Location: Parish Dining Room. Parents Park in front of Heider Hall and enter through the side Dining Room doors. Parents must escort their children into the cafeteria and sign them in with the adult in charge. 

Cost: Morning and Afternoon Latchkey costs $6.00 an hour and $1.50 every 15 minutes per child.  

After-School Program 

Time: 3:00-6:00 PM 

Location: Parish Dining Room, playground, gym, library, and Heider Hall. When the Parish Dining Room is scheduled for another event, the library, gymnasium, or Heider Hall’s Common Area may be used as the meeting area. Parents should park in front of Heider Hall and enter the Dining Room to sign out their children and escort them to their car. 

Cost: $6.00 an hour and $1.50 every 15 minutes, per child. Children picked up after 6:00 p.m. will be charged $1 per minute for each minute after 6:00. This additional fee will be added to your statement as “Late Pickup Fees.” Please be sure to pick up your children on time!  

Payment: You will receive a weekly email informing you of your child/children's balance. You will be charged through your FACTS account only. 

St. Thomas More Latchkey Program Information 

Program: Supervision will be provided at a ratio of 1 caregiver to 12 students (no less than 2 adults present at the facility at all times.) according to the regulations set forth by the State of Ohio. The after-school program will follow the guidelines set by the Ohio Department of Education. This includes the following components: 

  • Personal Discipline
  • Social Development and Emotional well-being
  • Recreation Skills
  • Health and Safety Skills General Daily Schedule
  • Snack Time
  • Homework and Study Time (students must do quiet activities if not working on homework)
  • Outdoor/Gym Free Time
  • Indoor crafts/games/activities

Discipline Policy 

  1. Children who don’t share, play roughly or call others inappropriate names will be given one verbal warning.
  2. If the behavior is repeated, the child will have a 10-minutetime-out.
  3. Some behaviors may warrant an immediate phone call to a child’s parent or guardian. In these cases, the child will be isolated until the parent or guardian has arrived to pick up the child. The behaviors that warrant a phone call include but are not limited to:
  • Being disrespectful to the staff or other students
  • Harassment of another child
  • Physical attack or assault
  • Refusing to follow the rules
  • Running away from the group
  • Stealing
  • Destroying School or another student’s property intentionally
  1. In addition, the above behaviors may include a one-week suspension from the Latchkey program at the discretion of the director.  
      5. In the event of a second suspension, the child may be expelled from the program.
 
Please note conduct points can also be given if any of the above behavior occurs.
