The sixth grade will read Crash by Jerry Spinelli. This novel uses the often comical antics of a junior high student and combines the comedy with startling revelations of humanity and the consequences of bullying.
Language Arts Grades 6, 7, and 8
I am enjoying my nineteenth year as a junior high language arts teacher at St. Thomas More School. I consider the fine achievements of my many former students to be not only a testament to my program, but a strong motivation to pursue creative and innovative ways to make my classes as current, exciting, and informative as possible. I am proud to be a part of STM, a community built upon excellence in education, Christian values, and a sincere desire to simply care about every child who enters our doors.

The seventh grade class will read The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Besides action and excitement, this provocative novel will provide multiple opportunities to explore Catholic values and social justice.
The eighth grade will read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee at the end of September. We will engage in cross-curricular activities with Mrs. Dugan's social studies program to maximize the powerful experience of reading this classic novel.
