STM’s CHRP Team #17 is partnering with our school in the ABC (A Bench for Caps) initiative. Students learn about recycling, the environment, and living “green” through their participation in this project, which consists of collecting and sorting lids from plastic bottles/containers. Once we have a certain amount, the lids are taken to a recycling facility and made into a bench from the recycled plastic. We will need 400 lbs. of lids, which is a LOT; but we have a substantial amount already, and we want to meet our goal so our students can get a bench made from their caps! The bench will belong to our children, and they will decide where it is to be placed so that they can show others the result of their work and the value of recycling.
