As the approaching holidays cause us to be hurried, it is a good time to remind parents and students to slow down. The safety of our students, staff and parents is of paramount importance. Please review the attached traffic flow patterns and review Drop off, Pick up, and transportation change policies:
Morning Drop Off Behind the Gym
- Adhere to the 5 MPH Speed Limit at all times while on school grounds.
- Students may not be dropped off before 7:30 am unless attending latchkey.
- Pull all the way forward to the end of the white painted curb by Mrs. Barnes.
- Do not exit before the car in front of you unless signaled by Mrs. Barnes.
- Have your students exit curb side for safety.
- The car line is for drop off only. Please park in the parking lot behind Heider Hall or in between the gym and school to sign school papers, etc.
Afternoon Pick Up Behind Heider Hall
- Adhere to the 5 MPH Speed Limit at all times while on school grounds.
- All students must remain in the painted area behind Heider Hall until a parent comes to get them or a staff member escorts them to a car in the car rider line.
- Parking is only available in the lot to the East of Heider Hall or along the fence line heading towards Glen Este Withamsville.
- Your student must be escorted by an adult at all times in the parking lot.
Transportation Changes
Any deviation from the student’s normal transportation routine must be reported to the school office as follows, in accordance with the Student Handbook:
- A note should be given to the homeroom teacher prior to the start of class each day. It is mandatory that all alternative plans for transport be finalized and conveyed to the homeroom teacher by 8:15 AM on the day of the change.
- Transportation changes will not be accepted after 11:00 AM except in cases of actual emergency.
- The homeroom teacher will send the note to the school office.
- Transportation for West Clermont students is available only from or to their home address. Students are not permitted to ride buses from outside their home district.
- At the time of afternoon announcements, the school office will announce names of students who are affected by transportation changes, such as a parent picking up a child.
While last-minute changes in the event of an emergency may occur, please LIMIT UNNECESSARY CHANGES. Any change in transportation requires notification to the teacher and student, which causes disruption of class time and often confusion for the student. Please determine arrangements in advance, notify your child about changes, and send a note to school with your student in the morning. Also, please remind your child to submit the note to his or her teacher during homeroom period at the beginning of the school day; this will ensure that the teacher is also aware of changes. St. Thomas More will not assume responsibility for last-minute changes or for unclear or incomplete messages or for calls requesting changes in routine transportation after 8:30 A.M. on the date of the change.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
