Cardinal Corner Newsletter - March 13, 2020

Dear Parents,

Don’t panic!  We are going to make it through this together!  This week’s Cardinal Corner is attached.

We had a wonderful, productive, creative staff meeting today about bringing the classroom to your home.  Teachers will be communicating with you and your children regarding their assignments throughout this period.  I consider school still to be “in session,” and school work should be completed in a timely manner.  Please pay attention to assignment due dates. We understand there may be some extenuating circumstances, but we want the children to be engaged and learning every day.  There will be times when materials may need to be dropped off and/or picked up.  We have designated Friday mornings from 7:30-9:00 a.m. and Friday evenings from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Cardinal Café for homework drop off and pick up. Doors to the cafeteria will be unlocked during this time, and you may go directly there to pick up or drop off assignments.

If you have not already, you should soon be receiving communication from your children’s teachers about picking up Chromebooks (Grades 4-5) or other materials for at-home learning.

Students may continue to take AR tests, if you are able to bring them in the vicinity of the school building so they can access our Wi-Fi from the parking lot.

Please do not hesitate to contact your children’s teachers with questions or clarification of assignments, although we strongly encourage students in Grades 3-8 to email their teachers directly with any questions they may have. Don’t underestimate your children’s ability to succeed in this virtual classroom environment or to work independently.  They are very capable and tech savvy!

At this point in time, no calendar decisions have been made beyond April 6.  We will pass along any updates as soon as they are received.

Let us continue to pray for all those who are ill, and that this crisis will soon be over.

Blessings,

Candy
