Girls on the Run returns to St. Thomas More School!

This fall, Miss Rebecca Peltz, Miss Brittney Poliak, and Miss Angela Holtgrefe are bringing back Girls on the Run to STM!  Girls on the Run inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities, and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-5th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.

Registration for Girls on the run is open TODAY and closes August 28. Girls on the Run will accept only 16 girls for the fall season. That means if there are more than 16 girls interested, GOTR will run a computerized lottery to give the 16 girls their spot.

The cost for GOTR is $165; this includes the 10-week program, a healthy snack at each practice, 2 GOTR t-shirts, custom running shoes, and the registration fee for the celebratory 5K. There are scholarships available and, after you are given your spot on the team, you will be able to fill out financial aid forms and will be asked how you can pay according to the sliding scale.

We will have GOTR practice every Tuesday and Thursday starting September 10 from 3:00-4:30pm. We plan to have practice outside each time, depending on weather conditions. The celebratory 5K to end the season will be Saturday, November 16, at Sawyer Point!  Each girl will need a running buddy for the 5K!

We are so excited to be able to help build even stronger and more confident girls here at STM!
