Cardinal Corner - February 28, 2019

Dear Parents,

The latest Cardinal Corner is attached.

Iowa testing week begins this Monday, March 4.  The data from these tests is important for sustaining good academic programs and measuring your child’s academic growth.  Please make every effort to have your student in school each day of the testing, and review the suggestions in the email sent on February 27 to ensure your child does his or her best!

Since we will miss our last day of Book Fair tomorrow, Mrs. Emily Smith and her wonderful team of volunteers have graciously agreed to be here Monday so students can finish their shopping.

Parents with children ages 10 and older are invited to view the movie Screenagers this Sunday, March 3, at St. Bernadette’s Stievenard Hall.  The movie and discussion afterward with Kathleen Cave from the Council on Child Abuse will give you tips to help your children find a healthy balance in this digital age.

Lent begins this Wednesday, March 6!  We will have an all-school Mass that morning, so the students will not attend Mass on Friday this week.  With Lent comes our famous Boy Scout Fish Fry, so bring your family out to a delicious dinner and support our Scouts on Friday, March 8.

As the season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving approaches, perhaps we can better prepare for Lent by reflecting on which sacrifices will most benefit our souls, or what virtue each of us might work on personally.  In this way, we can make our Lenten journey more meaningful and our Easter celebration more joyful!

Blessings,

Candy
